Insurance must be sky high too.

Because it sucks less than Virginia. :p

And, Virginia sucks way less than Illinois. ;)

Granted.

But the day I chuck everything to "upgrade" by moving to VA, they will be making cherry snowcones in Hell.

I used to live in California; we have heat waves, earthquakes, mud slides, and fires.
Florida is no different, they have no earthquakes but they got hurricanes.

The middle states have Tornados.

Here in NY we have Northeasters and possible hurricanes every 10 years or so.

Everywhere you go, there will always be problems.

I had 350 days/year of sun in Tucson, and the annual wildfire in the mountains.
Other than that.. no worries.

And i hope it stays that way for you, but every place has its issues, sometimes its not all the time but eventually something can happen?

Any seismic activities fault lines? In the past 10 years i lived in NY we even had a Earthquake can't escape it.

Let's talk about the school system and immigration issues if you really want to get a good chuckle or two.

Carbo, something i've never understood. Why did you move here from NY if you hate it so much?

Sorry you feel that way. Where I am in Virginia, I live 25 miles west of DC. We have mountains less than an hour away along with the Atlantic less than 2 hours away. Plus, Northern Virginia is a big melting pot for technical employers and companies.

I just REALLY hate winter and the fact that I am unlikely to escape it for the next 40 years.

Pay no attention to Tiles2Tech everything he says are lies. It really truly sucks and no one should move here.

Lol, I wish.

I got dragged to Denver for Christmas a few years ago by my family. YES! Place with even more snow! YES!

I could have been on Grand Cayman instead drinking a margarita on the fvcking beach.:|

You people are so ignorant.

I've lived here for 24yrs in Orlando and absolutely nothing. Then 2 hurricanes in 3 weeks and you people come up with some idiotic conclusion.

Why live in Florida ??

1) Low cost of living
2) No state income tax
3) Sunshine almost year round
4) Beaches everywhere you go.
5) Theme park capital of the world.
6) And if you're a party person, theres always Miami.

Yeah, I lived in Florida through junior high and high school. My parents have been there for nearly twenty years now. I liked it. The schools are pretty good.

Up in the Panhadle (Panama City Beach, Pensacola) the sand it white and the water is emerald green. You can see straight down to the bottom, and it's warm.

The beaches of Santa Barbara are rocky, brown, there's oil and kelp everywhere, and the water is murky and freezing year-round... but, yeah, no hurricanes (or typhoons since it's the Pacific).

Florida is a great place to live if you have a lot of cash to blow and are single. The quality of women in South Florida is unmatched, the amount of beauty you see here stomps every other city I have been to.

However, if you are looking for intellectual stimulation Florida is not the place to be. Most people down here have as much air in their heads as the women have silicone in their breasts.
When it comes to hurricanes, I would much rather have 3-4 days to get the hell out than to have a highway overpass collapse on top me during an earthquake.

Our office got hit here really hard. (In Melbourne, Florida) Our generator died then our UPS died due to being pieces of fvcking shit. So then our AC unit in our server room turned off.

Everything got cooked.

When my boss got here three hours after the generator and ac were off (He just wandered here by chance), he said it was so hot in the server room that you couldn't touch any metal, it would burn you.

Right now, $300k of hardware needs to be replaced. But in the next couple weeks, we are taking everything out a replacing EVERYTHING because all of the servers, switches, routers are flaking out. We are gonna replace everything now and let the insurance battle solve itself, don't have time for that.

I'm gonna have a lot of fun in the next couple weeks.

So why didn't you start powering down when the cooling failed? Or better yet, have it power itself down when things got to hot.
Wow ... unemployment++ if I were the boss there.

Actually, tropical cyclones are called typhoons when they form east of the IDL.

So they're still hurricanes in Hawaii.

Cheers!

We fared ok... Lots of trees down, phones (land and cell) were out for about a day..... Our building had some external damage (gutters down, tiles gone, screens ripped, & things like the emergency exit sign have been ripped apart)

Luckily we kept power throughout the storm though and nothing else really....

Our T1 provider failed on us so we had no idea what was going on. Oh well, my boss says fvck it, insurance is gonna pay for it. That's what it's for.
