Why Lady Gaga is the next Madonna

I give her credit for her ability to sing and play piano, but I really don't see why her music is anything special. Someone point out to me exactly what in it is groundbreaking or new? I don't think they're particularly catchy, I tend to like catchy pop songs. I don't hate her, I just don't see what the big deal is.
