Why it pays to read the fine print (re: eBay auctions)

i never put in a amount for shipping. But then I also charge the true amount on shipping. If shipping is $4 and material is another $2 then i charge $6. I don't try and screw people over. I get mad when it happens to me and i don't want to do that to others.

Why would you get mad if the shipping charges are listed right there in the auction?

High shipping price vs Low shipping prices almost always balance out when the final auction value + shipping is taken into consideration. The only one getting screwed is eBay depending on how much shipping costs are.

So you bid as you want. It doesn't "happen" to you. You let it "happen" to yourself by not looking before bidding. I personally won't bid on anything that doesn't have shipping prices listed.

And if the shipping prices are high, I bid accordingly, simple as that.

donno guess i would rather be honest and fair then try to scam someone who does not read the bottom. I also tend to beleive that people are as honest (yeah i need to get over that).

when i sale on ebay i do it for fun and to have a little play cash. I have yet to be dispointed on how much something sales for.

I sell a little on ebay. I charge typically $5 for shipping.....the usual cost for USPS Priority w/sig. conf. plus 50-75 cents to cover packing supplies. What slays me is those that scream "You didn't pack my item well enough....should have used big-bubble bubble wrap and lots more peanuts." to shippers and yet cry "His shipping charge was higher than what was printed on the shipping label put on by UPS/USPS/FedEx/etc." Heavier items are packed, weighed, calculated for California shipping (the longest distance it can travel from me), calculated on the UPS website, then $1 added for packing materials.

So where are people getting this free shipping materials, hmmmm? Boxes are no problem and never have been......but bubble wrap, peanuts, tape....they all cost money.......especially with wrap and peanuts, especially when packing a heavier item s o it won't shift/become damaged in shipping.

As soon as the packing materials become free, my shipping costs will be the "actual" cost charged by UPS, et al. Until then, my shipping, which is almost always stated in the auction, will attempt to defray the cost to me of packing materials.

full shipping charges.....not a problem, ask to see the receipt... then ask why he charged you double....

If shipping is clearly stated in the auction then you've got no right to bitch and moan. If you find unacceptable, move on.

If the shipping price is listed in the auction (as most are), then what are you complaining about? I list my shipping price in the auction and also fill out the S&H form that eBay provides so that the buyer can see the shipping charge.

Simple as that. If Circuit City sells a TV for $1,300 including free shipping and Best Buy sells it for $1,250 plus $50 delivery would you complain about that?😉

Well if you ever deal with guys like the one in the auction I posted, I'm sure he'd claim "Time is money" (which it is) and that he needs to be conpensated for "applying shipping labels"
