Why isn't there Picasa integration in Android?

That's why. It's a Htc Sense thing, not an Android thing. For whatever stupid reason, they decided to put in what's worse for you by reinventing the wheel.
Flickr is useless now, you can't share a photo by copying a link.
What the hell!?

could you do any deleting, editing or uploading to picasa directly from an sd card (or flash drive)? this is the only thing that I cant seem to figure out if Honeycomb will do. Played with the new Galaxy Tab 10" today. Could do some minor editng in picspy (or something) but not all (brightness, contrast, colors, etc). Picasa3 on a tablet and I'm sold!

There defiinately needs to be an app for picassa... the other day I was trying to share an album and create a new one and was surprised I couldn't do that on my tablet or phone without using my web browser.

i'm able to create a new picasa album. select whatever pics i want in whichever gallery app (stock works, as well as quickpick). share to picasa. there's a '+' button next to the album drop down where I can create a new one.

this is on plain android though...if you have a touchwiz or sense it may be different i guess.

Has Picasa ever been developed or changed so as to be able to do a SAVE AS on a displayed photo?

One of the "share" options is Picasa. Unless you mean pick a file name? Not quite sure which you mean.

I am talking about a basic computer operation. Open the app, and have a photo displayed. If you edit the photo, it is sometimes useful to doa SAVE AS to place it in another computer location. When I first tried Picasa a couple of years ago, it could not do that.

Right.. but you can do any of the other picassa options like create share groups or direct where to share the album or change settings on the album.

Are you talking about on the computer or on the phone?

ah I see what you mean. it is slightly annoying, but then again, the explanation would be that picasa is a photo management app with mild retouching built in, not a full fledged retouching app like photoshop or something. whenever you edit in picasa it saves the original image as a hidden file in the same folder, allowing you to revert whenever you want.
