Why isn't there more HIV in prisons?

So everyone has been starting prison threads, so I figured I'd start one of my own. Apparently, if you go to prison for more than a few years, you're "guaranteed" to be forced to do something that would allow you to get an STD, am I correct? So does that mean almost everyone that's been in prison for a long time has HIV or some other sort of STD? Surely it's easily spread by everything going on.....

It likely is higher than average, I dunno the Stats. If it's not, it's probably due to free condoms and awareness.

Of course there's more HIV in prison. Probably because (generally) #1, condoms are prohibited, and #2, masturbation is an offense just as great as rape (in many jails and prisons).

as i recall if the perpetrator knows he's infected and he knowingly infects someone else that's the case. can't imagine it being different in prison.

Orientation in Jackson they said you are not supposed to have sex as it's against the rules. But they did also say that if you are going to ignore the rules anyways as many often do, use saran wrap as a condom but not the microwave kind. They really stressed the non microwave kind.

For the males yes, but for female prisons it is different. I heard that "Caged Heat" was practically a documentary.

I'd venture a guess that meds, hospitalizations and treatments of lifers with AIDS and/or Hep-C costs more than $100k. All paid for by your tax dollars, of course.
