Why isn't the $2 bill popular?

When I lived in Oregon, $2 bills were used quite a bit, as well as silver dollar coins. Over here on the east coast I don't think anybody knows a $2 exists. 😛

Well do they make it anymore? Can I get like 10 of them from the bank today? Would make it easier paying to park everyday at work...

Basically because Americans are set in their ways. We could save tons of money printing $1 bills if people would use $1 coins (which last a LOT longer), and if they'd use $2 bills my wallet wouldn't get over-stuffed full of $1 bills/coins 🙂

Yes just ask for it from the cashier.

Who cares how good it looks? 😛 That's not what determines if a bill is popular or not - it's its functionality that counts, and the $2 bill fails at that

I got one in front of me that is 2003 series.

the $2 bill was always the standard gift that my grandma would put in our birthday cards when I was wee-one. Hell she still does it now, but shes old and a little bit "not all there".

$2 bills are cool no doubt. Odd that they were ever even produced.

First we need to design a useful $1 coin. Something easily distinguishable from all others by touch. Something fat and heavy like the British Pound

Because it's crap? It has no practical purpose. It was a stunt.

Worst Idea ever. Get rid of the penny, and release a 25 cent bill.

Uh.... ok... I agree with you on the penny, even started a thread about it a while back. But why do you say replacing $1 bills with $1 coins is the worst idea ever, and how would we benefit from having a 25 cent bill?

you can get $2 bills at any decent bank.

most cash registers don't have a drawer slot for them.

a friend of mine would buy school lunch with them, and also with silver dollars. the lunch lady hated him.

Head to the local horse/dog track, they always seemed to have them all over those places.

Makes that $2 trifecta that much easier to place.

Only on eBay. 😕

Although, it would be cool to have a still-wrapped pack of consecutive serial bills. 😀
