I've wondered about that for a long time.

The only reason I can come up with is that the majority of people are too prudish to allow it>>>
that is just bullsh*t if you ask me!Arent you man enough to get a girl you shouldnt have one.
I think the pimps should be sent to moon....as I said, what if your daughter are there damn*t

Again, I must ask, do you think banning prostitution has slowed the rate at which it occurs?

Search the web for Escort agencies. There are thousands. Bans haven't stopped prostitution, it's only driven it underground and made it more dangerous.

<< Actually, think about it in economic terms. If it was legal, the risk goes down, the commodity becomes more available. As it becomes more available the price will come down. Then the people 'providing' this service will not make the money they want and the 'quality' will surely become more than suspect.

I don't foresee this at all. Ugly hookers are already a dime a dozen. Good looking hookers will still draw a premium. Making it legal wont make ugly, nasty whores suddenly desirerable, nor will it make beautiful ones less desierable, or less rare.

I think prostitution should be legal too. Massage is almost the same as prostitution.

One gives service, one gets pleasure, the one who gives service gets paid.

Economically, should be ok. Morally, I don't know.

That is a point indeed, but If we allow that and that we could just as well allow everything. And how can you tell a girl, say 14,it is legal to be a whore.Allow drugs better, let the drugsaddicted sit on a big island and hand them all the drugs they want(one way ticket)

There is no slippery slope here. There are lines that cannot be crossed, i.e., minors may not act without their parent's permission and are not legally allowed to make such a desicion. If you don't want your child to grow up to be a hooker, teach her it's wrong and unwise. It is legal to do many things, that does not make them wise or moral.

If you need the government to force personal morality, i feel very sorry for you.

Funny, that didn't happen in the US like it does in Thailand, even when it was legal. It doesn't happen in European countries in which it is legal, nor does it happen in Nevada, which is legal.

It's not a valid example. It sounds like Thailand needs to work on laws protecting children, not prostitution laws.

Back when it was outlawed, it wasnt outlawed because of religon. It was outlawed because of money and land, men wanted to control it because they wanted the money but couldnt so they banned it.

Um, do you have a source for this?

As far as I know, it was banned in most areas during the Victorian period of extreme fridgidity and prudeness.

If it's legal in Nevada then I would guess it's not a national law but a state or local law. I've heard that it was only legal in Las Vegas but it could be legal elsewhere.
If men and women want to engage in this, in my opinion it's their choice and shouldn't be something that's illegal. On the other hand while I don't do marijuana I also think it should be legal too. However the odds of either ever becoming legal on any substantial basis is nil.
I remember reading that I think in NYC that if you get caught soliciting a prostitute they tell your work and god only knows who else. There are times I think we live in a very backwards country. :(

Prostitution is legal in Nevada.

*BONUS* - the hookers there doing it legally have to get STD tests on a very regular basis.

Actually, it's legal in Nevada, but the city of Las Vegas keeps a ban on it. That's why all the Brothels are outside of town.

Actually that is not quite correct. It is legal on a county by county bases. Clark county which is where Vegas is located has not legalized prostitution. There are 2 other countyies in Nv that have not legalized it either.

Huh? I was basically correct. It is legal on a state level, and local governments can ban it, or choose not to legalize it (six of one, half dozen of another). Correct?
