Why isn't iPhone on T-Mobile?

It seems to make logical sense for Apple to sell the iPhone on T-Mobile, no? Since Android is taking market share away from Apple, why not expand to T-Mobile too? That should recapture a large amount of market share. Once they have even more market share, even more developers will develop for them and thus, the eco-system remains healthy.

The operate on a different band (AWS), and thus would require a slightly different radio. It's a bit of a moot point as there are plenty of phones that do this already.

Well, for one, T-Mobile USA was in a deal with AT&T for a merger, which would mean AT&T would "absorb" T-Mobile into its network spectrum. Deal fell through due to concerns of a monopoly, and thus T-Mobile was on its own again.

That happened right around the time deals and contracts would be signed to carry an iPhone 5, so maybe they didn't have enough time to strike. Plus if they were to be merged into AT&T, they'd "have" the iPhone anyway.

But marketshare isn't a concern for Apple... or developers. iOS still makes (significantly) more money than Android does for both Apple and developers, and that's what matters.

T-Mobile has 35 million customers. The only OS worth buying on T-Mobile is Android.

If Apple can get half of the pie, they can add 17 million users. That's a lot...

Yeah, but the problem is... they can't get even 1/10 of the pie.

And it doesn't matter either way since Apple has never been high on marketshare on anything other than iPod and iPad.

T-Mobile is the value provider. There is no value in getting into a deal with Apple.

This. Tmo would have to pay millions like sprint did to sell iphones. Why would they want to? There would hardly be any profit it at all for tmo to buy the rights to sell iphones. Its just silly.
