why isn't google able to find ebay auction items when you do a google search?

Sometimes you get a google result that takes you the google search page but you don't get results for specific items.

I don't know if I'd want it too. Maybe an quick box to click if you want it to search ebay too, other wise all my searches will always be ebay.

Plus, they'd probably have to make a deal with ebay to look through the database.

Why can't you just search on ebay?

let's say I want to buy a 1985 Dodge 600--right now I would have to search dozens upon dozens of sites that sell used autos.

It would be nice to be able to type "1985 Dodge 600" into google and get results from all of the sites...including eBay.

Exactly, same with all the other auction / sale / classified databases.

Google would also need to track the auction-end for items and dates of for-sales you you don't get eleventy-billion expired auctions.

Wierd...I can usually get eBay results by using Froogle. Did you mean Google, as in the general search, or did you try Froogle?

I didn't try Froogle but I will.

Why not just do the damn search on ebay then.

I don't know about eBay, but in many cases Google's site-specific search can bring up much better results that a site's own search engine.

For instance, I always search Microsoft's knowledge base and MSDN site using "site:support.microsoft.com" or "site:msdn.microsoft.com" rather than use the Microsoft search engine.

froogle has a tendency to bring up spam sites that link to specific ebay auctions anyway...

Congratulations!

That is the answer I was looking for. I had been trying to lead up to it and you finally got it.

Just some market testing. Thanks.
