I'm not talking about the show Channel 1 but the actual channel. One of those strange things I never did find the answer to. Anyone know?

Probably because there was never a channel 1 on broadcast television, and someone assumed that since no one watches channel 1 on their regular tv, no one would think to watch channel 1 on cable?

while were talking about weird things on cable....

why do companies use channels 1-60 then put 10 more channels by themselves randomly upto 100? You'll have like a 64, then a 72, then 89-94, then 99.....WTF is up with this?

And why dont they group the damm channels together? Networks 1-15, news 16-22, music 23-26, drama 27-40, then put all the religious, food, and cooking channels at the back. Would make a lot more goddamm sense.

They are categorized like that here.... (western NY, Adelphia)
With the exception of the first 50 or 60 channels, which I never bother to watch anyway.

Channel 6 is 87.7 FM as well. I don't see it affecting them.

Every once in a while, we get a channel 1. Can't remember what it is, as I don't watch much tv, but every once in a while we do get it.

isnt just like that though, is it?

like.. FM band is ±0.05mhz.. iirc.. so like.. 87.65 - 87.75.. right? something like that.

but each TV channel has something like a 5MHZ chunk of bandwidth, i think.

i wonder where my graph of who owns what airspace is gone to..

I think I have channel 1 on my digital cable... it's some kind of iTv interactive crap that I don't want/use.
