Why isn't Anti Virus software and malware (spyware-adware-sh!tware) combined?

Damn there are so many pc's that are sooo slow because of this crap. I used 7 public computers today in different locations and all 7 had bargains.exe, optimize.exe, wintools.exe etc. running.

This is ridiculous.

companies like symantec are major scammers

they could have thier stupid software actually remove viruses , but they have no $ incentive to do anything
they like to rake in $ from corps for their pathetic no new feature/benefits crappy software year after year after year after year after year after year..........

Well unfortunately the problem lies in how people use the computers but still. All computers were running symantec corporate client with a quarantine server, etc. If these adware files were in the virus definitions then auto protect would kill the installation dead.

It's ridiculous one has to run (again we're talking average user that gets this crap in the first place) A/V and Anti Spyware crap. The MS beta slows machines down and is yappy as all get out. Might as well run norton internet security which is the biggest pos ever.

Same here, except I get my software for free compliments of my University.
