Later, the Andromeda writers decided that they needed to stick closer to an underlying theme to tie the episodes together but what they wound up with was something that tried to be a "Babylon 5 lite". It wasn't as well-planned and nowhere near as thought-provoking. In B5, there were so many sub-plots that you had to watch an episode two or three times and almost draw a chart to understand everything.

I'll agree with this. I like Andromeda, but it's critically flawed; it's a show that could have been so much better..

I tried to like it, I wanted the show to be good. However the script and acting just lacked.

In comparison, Babylon 5 was like the opening of a brand new monorail in your city; you understand
that there is something special there, but don't always see what all the hype is about.

Andromeda was like watching a frieght train wreck (especially the more recent episodes), you can't help but watch to see if it is really gonna turn out to be as bad a crash as it is sizing up to be.
