Later, the Andromeda writers decided that they needed to stick closer to an underlying theme to tie the episodes together but what they wound up with was something that tried to be a "Babylon 5 lite". It wasn't as well-planned and nowhere near as thought-provoking. In B5, there were so many sub-plots that you had to watch an episode two or three times and almost draw a chart to understand everything.
I'll agree with this. I like Andromeda, but it's critically flawed; it's a show that could have been so much better..
