i used to only run win98se on my duron system. it was tested for over 40hours at full load @980MHz running final fantasy, seti, and cpu stability tester simultaneously. stable like a damn rock.
once i got my adaptec 2930c scsi controller card and 4X panasonic cdr drive i decided to go dual-boot. at that time i also decided to throw in a 30GB maxtor 7200rpm ata100 drive.
now, w/ my dual boot system, scsi controller and drive and new 30GB drive i can not run win9X stable, even at 950 or 900MHz. the computer always freezes at windows network login screen after i have typed a letter or two of the password.

before switching to dual boot, win98se froze while accessing the new 30GB drive i added while trying to run a program off of the drive.
win2k runs at 980 stable like a rock as well. only did 8 hours of testing at 980MHz so far, but plan to test more soon. so far, it's working beautifully. it has no problems accessing the 30GB drive but it does freeze when i copy files from the 30GB to my 15GB IBM drive. is it possible that there is something wrong w/ the drive?
if so, what? and how can i check?

thx fellas.
