Why is VW pushing the Tiguan as the "Only compact SUV with a standard turbo engine"?

Indeed you are right! Forgot about that. But the CX-7 isn't compact IIRC. Its more of a mid-size. The Tribute would be a compact.

They're probably considering the RDX as a "luxury compact" or some other bullshit like that. The Tiggy is a decent cute-ute, its just a bit expensive for what it is. In CA it seems to have replaced the X3 as the sorority girls car of choice.

The rdx is a good bit bigger than the Tiguan. 6" longer, 2.5" wider, 300lb heavier. I suppose it is Acura's compact SUV but it isn't quite as small as the CR-V even.

"its just a bit expensive for what it is."

And so is the RDX.

that's my biggest annoyance. they took a good childhood game and turned it into a marketing scheme, and they didnt even get the name or game right. its not "Punch Dub" its "Slug Bug" and its only applies to the Beetles not to the entire VW lineup....

It was always "Punch Bug" in these parts...and it only applied to Beetles.

i'll give you that. "punch bug" was considered acceptable, but it was mainly known as "slug bug" for us at least. the most critical part was that is only applied to the beetles not the whole lineup.

I don't think that the RDX has a turbo available anymore.

No, the turbo 4-Cyl is still standard on the RDX.

As others said, they probably are saying the RDX isnt a compact SUV.. Welcome to bullshit car marketing; everyone does it

Forester XT is significantly faster then Tiguan. Yes, it's not a "base trim", but still, even with the turbo, the subie is less expensive. (as well as faster)

It looks worse, though. And considering you'll actually be driving it instead of getting carted around in the dealership shuttle from the VW constantly getting repaired, people WILL see you in the car :) I'd get the Subaru, though. However, I bet the VW does drive nicer.

yaa that pissed me off too when i saw the commercials. my kids and i have expanded the game to include "whack cadillac" and "bruiser cruiser". and "DODGE!" is still a fun one.

german cars are just the best cars anyway, so it doesn't really matters.

A VW Bus counted as two punches for us.

$1,800 for the navigation system? Is that some kind of sick joke?

Thats par to the norm, I think iDrive is like a 2.5-3k option pack? I think AudiNav is like 2k or something I forget. The navi in my Jetta was a 1500 option
