Why is USR Courier Modem better than USR Sportster?

Hi, I had USR Sportster before this and sold it. Later on I bought the Courier version (both of them ISA) and I notice that my Sportster is actually faster than the Courier one. I always connect at 50.6 with Sportster and connect at 49.2 with Courier. So does anybody know why Courier is said to be the best modem out there? Mine is the 25 MHz one. What does 25 MHz mean anyway? Thanks

i think the courier has more features that you will never use... and 3com/USR has to make money some how...
just use the one that works best for you... and forget about it...

When I ran a BBS many moons ago, Courier was the modem of choice. They had better power regulation, the components on the circuit board were less loosly packed (hence its larger size) for heat dissapation, etc. I'm talking external here. They were ruggedly built for 24/7 usage whereas the Sportsters tended to start flaking out after long term usage due to heat. They also supported USR's proprietary HST (hence the name Dual Standard) which was cool at the time. HST to HST would give you a true 9600 BPS when 2400 was the fastest standard. Could do 19.2 when 9600 was the fastest standard.
