why is TV censored?

So, since the "v-chip" is so wide-spread as the PSA's say they are -- why don't broadcasters start televising un-edited movies?

or, alternatively, why do we "all" pay (in terms of added hardware cost) for the ability to censor already-censored material?

the vchip isnt as wide spread as you think, if you own a TV thats 2 years old or older you dont have one, and id say something liek 80% of the peopel out there own at least 1 2 year old TV
