Why is Turbo tax $35 on one computer and $30 on another?

Today at work I loaded up the turbotax site and was told $29.95 for federal. At home I load it and it wants $34.95. I remoted into my work machine and guess what? Still $29.95. Either they jacked the prices up today and I'm cached or they're doing it based on IP address. Any ideas? @(#* this noise, I'm going with taxact anyway and auditing it against taxcut/turbo tax to be sure it works (because it is the cheapest, if it gives me the right figures).

I used a friend's TurboTax Deluxe software and only paid $17.95 to file federal. You're getting ripped off.

i always do my federal and state for free online govt sites, you dont get the convenince of a single simple app but hard to argue with free.

Some some are getting the $5 more. I call frickin shens on this entire FIASCO. I know why people hated the spyware in turbo years back, they're up to their old games, by God!

Lots of sites do this. If they don't detect a cookie from a prior visit, they will display lower prices figuring you could be a new customer.

The computer with the higher cost, though, is a brand new install of an OS. Maybe they are going the other way around...?

Anyway, I ended up doing taxact. It came out with the precise same number as taxcut except was able to properly deduct 529 contributions, scoring me $400 that taxcut online could not do and $17 sounds a lot better than $60-70 from turbo for the same thing.
