Why is TTS such a premium feature on a GPS?

I don't get it. Why do GPS manufacturers treat Text-to-Speech as a premium feature for a GPS? I think all GPS's should have this feature. Once you develop the code to do this, then it shouldn't cost that much to add it to every GPS unit.

i want to know why more phones dont have text-to-speech. i had a lg cellphone two years ago that read the caller ID out loud when a call came in. it just went "call from, joe- mobile" and i wouldnt even have to look at the phone to know i didnt want to answer. it didnt require any setup or learning, it was all automatic from the start and it could even read text, emails or anything you want out loud too. and that phone didnt have nearly the cpu power my q9c does, so why dont they implement it? i found it to be one of the coolest, most handy features ive ever had on a phone.
