Why is throwing the term "teabagging" around acceptable?

There seems to be a recent problem with users throwing the term "teabagging" around as an insult. At least in P&N.

We all know that they are referring to sexual connotation that "teabagging" implies, look it up if you don't understand what I mean.

Here is an example:
"You're a broken record dude. Don't you have some teabagging to do? "

Therefore people are essentially throwing a gay insult at other posters.

Why is this acceptable?

Would it be acceptable to tell a black poster to go eat some chicken or watermelon?
Or tell a female that she should be barefoot and pregnant?
Or call an indian poster a dot head?
etc etc
thread in question
This is only the latest example.

I don't believe teabagging is a sexual pursuit limited to homosexuals, but my experience in said area is non-existent.

It is obviously meant as an insult and he call the person 'dude' so it seems pretty clear what he was implying.

It's definitely an insult, but I don't think it's a gay slur. Using "dude" has no real connection.

Since it's not a directly gay term and the fact that they said it so much on the news it has lost it's appeal. ;)

I am offended by people that are offended too easily.
Can we start banning them? There is no reason to pussify the world any more than it has already become.

I thought teabagging was largely something done by drunk, hetero frat boys because they think it's funny.

My ex-girlfriend used this term all the time and it had absolutely nothing to do with anything homosexual, it was the exact opposite in fact.

Do you really think he was referring to someone's girlfriend??

You guys can't be that dumb. It was an insult and it is pretty clear what he was insinuating.

P&N is caustic enough, I don't think we should be throwing around slurs like this on top of all the name calling we already do.

The faux outrage is strong.

Yep. The whole teabagging outrage is a current Republican talking point and this thread belongs in P&N, not Personal Forum Issues. Quite frankly I had never heard the term until the outraged people decided to be outraged over it.

so whats new for ProfJohn...same MO as always..lol

Hey, sparky, you were the one awhile back dismissing Ann Coulter's comment about John Edwards being a "lovely human."

You don't have much room to talk.....

As to the OP - the OP is only upset that "teabagging" has been assigned to those that have an issue with the current administration....

As a "gay" slur - get the fuck out...

It's not a gay slur, and it must be EXHAUSTING to flit around on the internet looking for things to get your panties bunched up about, OP. Grow a pair.
