Why is this Tinker WU taking so long?

there is 1 big one they are giving out a lot lately, it has a 50-day expiration date, p6-something. I'm working on one of them, too. were I to leave my comp on 24/7, it would be 40 hours to completeion, and I've got a 2000+, so maybe you just have an even slightly bigger one.leave it alone, I think you're fine.

You could use FAH LogStats to see how many points it is worth, could give you an idea of the size..

you can find it her: FAHLogStats

[EDIT] It's still BETA but the most important parts works fine [/EDIT]

Is it a Seti Wu? If so there is definetly something wrong! Th lowest AR would only take ~ 2 hrs on that rig!

It may be one of seven different projects that have tinker units with a 50 day time limit.

The tinker units with a 30 day time limit take about 30 hours on my 3200+, so something may still be wrong. If the unit keeps progressing, it is just a work unit that doesn't pay very well. There isn't a hard and fast relationship between the points paid and time limit. Some projects rack up points quickly while others slow you down. If you use your rig for heavy-duty crunching aside from F@H, it will really slow down your progress. Even surfing the web can easily add 20 seconds a frame.

Tinker units pay less per hour (about 2.3pts per hour on my 3200+) than gromacs units, but even among gromacs units some, like the 801 through 852 projects are high paying (about 4pts per hour) while others like 201 through 259 pay less per hour of crunching . (about 3.3pts per hour)

F@H benchmarks the projects using a celeron 500 in order to determine the time limits (i.e. a Celeron 500 can finish the unit in that time limit if run 8hrs a day), but I don't know how points are determined. It may be that they are determined by that same, slow computer which doesn't have 3Dnow! or SSE.
