Timing belt changes are pretty easy. Plenty of space, only trick is making sure the cams are lined up.

Change thread title to "Why is this subaru legacy within $150 of KBB retail?"

Isn't that roughly what they are worth?
They have never been insanely good for resale value.

It is within $150 of KBB for the excellent condition retail price. It's not a GT like the OP states. It's just a normal model with the special edition package.

So yeah, that's what it's "worth".

Dang, I for some reason thought it was a GT.. anyways.. if it's at KBB... could I talk them down still?

It only was a $20K car when new. FWIW, I had an 06 Legacy GT wagon and that car was one of the best cars I've ever had.

I would love one of those.
They are stupid hard to find in manual.

They weren't all that easy to find even when new. I got more compliments on that car than any car I've owned and if I wouldn't have moved 40 miles from my work I'm sure I would still have it today.

Just look for an '06 or '05. Should be able to get a clean GT for less than that.

but maybe 125-150k miles on it. Some people love it some people dont.

a 05 LGT recently showed up 05 LGT non-limited blk/blk 95k 5spd for $8900. Posted at NOON on CL and sold right around 730PM.

Sounds about right. I sold my '05 GT non-limited last year for $10.5k with just under 100k on it. Buyer flew in to pick it up.

With the thread on sleeper cars. LGT forester xt or any turbo Subaru that doesn't have wrx/still badging are big sleepers.

These cars have a good following. People just don't end up with a LGT, kinda like people don't end up with a m3.

Good gas mileage? I thought they have little under average. Like 20-23 mixed.

New ones with the CVT are quite good. I averaged low 20's with the GT. I thought that was acceptable for 300hp.

So I checked the car out. For having 33,000 miles it had way too many scratches all over.. bumper, back driver side light area, skirt, door etc... I passed... oh well.
