Why is this device on my network?

Just upgraded my laptop to windows 7, was futzing around and found there appears to be a wireless N router on my network, I've checked the log on my dhcp server and the mac address of the rouge wireless router doesn't show up. If I double click on the router it brings up a dialog box asking me to enter a PIN, but it's not my router so I don't know what the PIN is. Why is it listed under my network infrastructure if it's not part of my network? How did it get into my network if it's not a device I own? Everything on my network is hardwired except for the laptop-pc, which connects to the WRT54g using WPA2 encryption.

There is one D-link wireless N router available in my wireless connections it is not protected but the signal is too weak to establish a connection.

It's possible that the N router is just another one in your area, like the Dlink.

The router that is shown as "d-link router" is a router on my network (used as a switch only), the router that is titled "wireless N router" is also a d-link but it is not on my network, there is an unsecured connection in my neighborhood that is a d-link wireless n router, but the signal is too weak to connect, there are no other wireless N connections available in my neighborhood.

"The signal is too weak to connect".

But it is viable enough to announce its presence, otherwise you would not know that there is another Router in your neighborhood.

Look at the Wireless management, if there is an entry for the N Router, delete it.

Otherwise, stop trying to connect to it, and after a while it will go away.
