Height restrictions aren't the same everywhere. Would have to assume that is legal where ever they are located. Not exactly a conspicuous vehicle the cops would miss. If it wasn't legal, I doubt the owner would be taking it to the mall.

It is illegal but not properly enforced, it should be. It is highly fvcking dangerous, this is a known fact. If you are rear-ended by that thing YOU DIE.

Iirc, tires >2" outside the wheel well are illegal in CA. Not sure about elsewhere.

I park my Prelude at the grocery store and wonder what would happen if I rear-ended (or got rear-ended) from the huge SUV/trucks parked in front of me. I often see their bumper just about the height of my head. *shudder*

It'd fail for headlight and bumper height laws in California. PG&E has lifted utility trucks for getting to the lines in the mountains, and they have to relocate the lights to be legal.

Mind your own god damn business.

It becomes everyone's business the moment he/she modified the vehicle to a point where it endangers the safety of all drivers on the road.

Unfortunately things like this are rarely enforced.

I guess the only fail here is that no one sees that it is at a car show in a parking lot. We have them all the time around here. Some people spend tons of money on computers, this guy and whoever has the Ford next to him spend a lot of money on their truck.

All the non-sense of "if you get rear ended by this truck you die" is BS. What if you get rearended by a semi? The chances of being hit by a semi are greater than being hit by this truck.

Probably the truck drove there on public roads as opposed to being shipped there.

Fail. If a semi could be made safer it would be. These are generally illegal for a reason and it has nothing to do with whether being hit by a semi is worse or not.

there is federal maximum bumper height.

its like 18 or 24 inches off the ground

its why most really lifted trucks bolt a 'bumper' to the bottom of the real bumper, to extend down to the legal requirement, then when they go offroading they take it off

but of course, that thing obviously aint getting dirty anytime soon

Is it not your business if you are rear-ended by this truck AND YOU DIE?

Not really. Why would I die? Given the choice, I'd much rather get hit by this than a lot of other vehicles driving on the road.

You can't make a semi safer by negating the laws a physics. A fully loaded 18 wheeler is going to be about 80,000lbs. Good luck getting rear ended by that.
BTW, they aren't illegal because of rear ending, their illegal because of the highet and tip[ over issues.
But I guess captain obvious passed you buy and you cant see that it is a show truck. Show trucks and cars are rarely driven. But it's OK to hate on trucks but it's ok to like cars that can do 100MPH with no problems because when those slam in to the back of a stationary car they are so much safer. It's not about the vehicle, it is about the driver. But continue to spew you hate of an object because of your insecurities.

That is poor logic. I would rather be hit by it than a semi as well, what does that have to do with the safety of this? Isn't this like being ok with one engine in the two engine plane you're on just dying because at least the pilot isn't also drunk?

Like any of the douchbags that drive their honda's and BWM's at 100+ and slam into the back of slower cars.

You see articles all the time about street racers killing bystandards and other motorists all the time. I've haven't seen any articles about a lifted truck driving over a car and killing the people in it.

It means it isn't any more dangerous than legal vehicles already on the road. If I am going to get hit in the rear, I would much rather get hit by a truck like that which would likely climb the back of my car than something like an Escalade that would just plow into me like a brick wall and force my car to try and dissipate all the energy. Despite the considerable weight of that truck, it isn't going to pancake your typical car just by driving on top of it. The lift in and of itself is not an additional danger to anyone except convertibles and the occupants of the truck itself. The height of the headlights is much more of a safety hazard than the truck itself.
