Why is there no market for side windows that are setup like the front windshield on a car?

You'd think that'd be a great theft deterrent...it would take a lot more work to smash out a double pane with plastic.

Hes talking about the fact that side windows on cars don't have that layer of plastic that prevents them from shattering in an accident like they do on the windsheild.

Probably cause of weight and simply cost. It's not just a plastic laminate, it's two panes of glass.

Also I'm sure it would put more fatigue on door hinges and the motor regulators of electric windows.

Yeah and it still takes less work than actually going out and getting a job.

Seriously... how many people per year are in accidents that require them to exit through the windows (or die if they remain in the car?)
I'm going to guess about.... none.

I was an accident that required window-exit last week - and that was only a relatively minor 25mph impact that didn't even set off airbags.

Wouldn't stop them from using the spark plug method, and wouldn't stop them from breaking it in the first place, even if they then give up. But it WOULD make it harder to get your insurance company to pay up.

My friend's car flipped updide down off a bridge into about a metre of water. The only reason the four of them got out instead of drowning was that the side windows shattered when the roof buckled.

yup safety. u can buy a pointed glass breaker thing.. or you can use anything with a sharp hard point to break side window glass easily, push about 2 inches from the corner with firm pressure and it will shatter into tiny bits, its tempered or something so its not sharp.

Oh believe me, it's still sharp, it just won't slice you open like a pig compared to regular non-tempered glass panel.
