If God wanted there to be coupon code posting, there would be coupon code posting.

Right now, she is busy working on that oil spill on the Mississippi.

yeah, but I bet the mods are not busy with the spill and Im sure this will be locked soon. :) The reason is because the Mods said so. And that is FINAL!
Thanks,

Probably because some people can abuse coupon use which is probably illegal. Like signing on to a site numerous times under different usernames and using a "new customers only" coupon. Or, reusing the same coupon by calling a store back and editing your order. Not that I ever did such a thing;)

Hey I'm new to this place & I think it would be nice if there was a set of guidelines somewhere with explanations.

I suppose with the near extinction of the dial-ip BBS systems of yesteryear a lot of computer geeks have to come up with something else to express their god complexes.. I think I got over that when I was 15 years old..

Hopefully that won't offend anyone. Sorry if it did.

Anyway, please will someone give me a definite explanation?

Thanks,
John M

squisher: how does not having links to coupons or the codes themselves stop people from doing what you said?

Basically because AnandTech dosn't want/nor need any legall trouble with any retailers. , Nor do they need to be bothered by cleaning up Staples or @homes or Ashford.com's messes.

Am I right here moderator ?

Basically there was coupon abuse and illegal coupon codes posted in the past. Since it was nearly impossible to separate out legal and allowable codes from the others, they just made it a blanket policy no codes or special links, only specials that are advertised on the company's home page are acceptable for the most part.

There are plenty of coupon sites already out there, and if one site doesn't want to sponsor coupon use, then so be it. This is a great site, I FINISHED purchasing my entire system just today. I built a top of the line system which included:

Black hydraulic case w/ 300w power supply
Pentium III 866
256MB Crucial cas2 pc133 memory
Asus CUSL2-C Motherboard
TDK Velocd CD-RW 12/10/32
Kenwood TrueX 72X CD-ROM
1.44 MB Floppy
Quantum Fireball LM 7200 rpm ata/66 30 gig hard drive
Mitsubishi 17" DiamondTron Pro 710 Monitor
Standard PCI Audio card (upgrading to professional recording card soon)
Leadtek Winfast GEForce2 GTS 32mb video
3com 10/100 NIC
Microsoft Natural Pro keyboard

I built this entire system for $1486 including shipping/taxes. If I had to price this entire system out, without the use of Anandtech's forums, it would have cost me right at around $1800, so I saved over $300 off of pricewatch's lowest prices, merely by doing some research here. That's $300 i can spend on my girlfriend's christmas present, sending my mom some flowers, or even buying myself some of the car stereo back which was recently stolen from me.

Rather than complaining about this site not offering coupon codes, look for those who post ABOUT using coupons and email them privately. Then you have an individual on your side. Anandtech runs a very heavily visited site and wants to stay that way, so please consider this in protecting itself against possible litigation/interference of the day-to-day operations of one of MY favorite sites! Cheers to ANANDTECH for being this year's REAL hot deal.
