Why is there both 1% and 2% milk?

I grew up drinking skim milk, so 2% or whole tastes weird to me. My wife is used to 2% milk, so 1% is a good compromise for us.

Whole milk is nature's most perfect drink.
2% milk is tolerable.
1% milk is useful of you have run out of everything else in the house to drink and your water has been shut off so you can't have tap water.
Skim milk, I dunno. Maybe use it to water plants or something but it's certainly not drinkable.

"I see you're drinking one percent. Is that cuz you think you're fat? Cuz you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to."

hmm yeap.

I grew up drinking whole milk. though i did cut back a little to 2%. I can drink 1% but would rather have water etc.

can't stand skim milk. blah.

we have a brand that sells "Jersey Promille Milk" which has 0.05% fat but it has an increased amount of proteins compaired to normal milk, so to me it tastes just like 1.5% milk.

milk here tastes different cause there's less chemicals. really! here you can only buy 2% and 1%. we usually buy 2% cause it's more available but since there is no difference in tasts (to me) i prefer 1%.

I agree...I usually drink 2% (I guess because it's what I grew up with; I'm not even sure if I've ever tried whole)...and skim milk tastes exactly like water to me.

I buy skim milk but I will drink whatever.

Skim, 1%, 2%, it doesn't taste noticably different to me, but there is a difference in thickness.

I used to swear by 2% growing up and wouldn't drink anything else, but now I just don't care.

This is quite true. I have drank whole milk all my life, and despise the taste of 2,1, and non fat milk, if I wanted water, I would just buy water, its cheaper.

Half and Half is also very good with cereal, eggnog can work ok too, but its kinda thick.

I personally like Skim Milk since that's what I was raised on. When I try to drink any of the other ones, it's too rich for me.

I would say there is a fair amount of difference between them, since people say there is a difference between full fat and others.

look on your milk carton... whole milk = 12% fat :Q

Either you misread that, or you are buying "fat-enriched" milk.

yeah, i misread it. 12% is the daily allowance 😱

It all a mater of adapting. I went from 2%-> 1% -> Skim. Skim is now all I use. Anything stronger taste like cream to me. Why skim? It has less fat in it. Less fat is good. More fat is the reason why most NA are big fat asses.

In parts of India they drink milk straight from the cows tit.

Cow ---> Boil for 20 minutes --> Let cool --> Drink

I don't think so.
