I bought a dell vospro 1700 laptop recently. The previous owner had upgraded to a penryn, t8300, and bought an ES model from ebay.

Anyway, turns out both the heat sensors are not functioning, and also the dell diagnostics was showing a duff CPU THERMISTOR.

I decided to open it up and apply some new arctic silver, given i couldnt rely on any cpu temp monitoring.

I took the cpu out, and then discovered a round sticker on the underside?? Check out the pic:

Anyone know what or why this is there? I thought maybe thats the reason I was getting sensor errors, at least from the dell diagnostics.

So I used a pin and removed it. On rebooting, still not getting any sensors. But im wondering why would someone stick a sticker on the underside of a cpu?

The place the original owner bought it from could have put it on there if it was an OEM CPU.
