I have a GeForce4 Ti4200 and my computer use to be smooth.

The Problem :
I recently starting getting choppy videos. When I scroll up and down in Internet Explorer, it use to be smooth, now it's choppy. My movies are choppy when I maximize the size (never use to happen). I don't know if this has anything to do with it.. but I can no longer play WarCraft3. It tells me I don't have DirectX 8, but when I try to install DirectX 8, it says I already have it.

I Tried :
I installed the latest drivers for my Visiontek GeForce4 Ti4200. Installed Divx5 Codec. Updated Microsoft Products on their site.

Does anyone know any tips?

no tips for you, except if it was such a serious problem, i'd start from scratch since it's not a big deal: remove all drivers, remove the card. Reboot, then start again. Install the card, drivers, ....

Check task manager for things running in the backround and run a full virus scan.

It can also depend on your hardware configuration. If you post the entire list, it can make thing a heck of a lot easier.

Geezes, I think that did it. The Device Manager had my graphic card as an unknown device. Thanks!

Seen this happen before with customers, but the answer depends on the hardware configuration as well as the OS.

If you have Windows 9* you should re-extract and replace the multimedia timer files, with Windows 2k try DirectX8.1 (if you indeed have 8), and with both 2k as with XP try installing another version of the media player, or reinstalling the same version.
