Why is the speed of the wifi is slow on my laptop?

When I use router the speed of the internet is very slow (around 0.48 Mbps download speed) on my laptop but when I use the internet from my mobile hotspot the speed is very good. I have checked the signal strength in both cases and it was strong. I have tried sitting just next to my router but still, the speed is very slow.

Routers all have different speeds. My mobile hotspot is also faster than my router's Wi-Fi. They are different, and I don't worry about it.

That sounds like a (rare) compatibility conflict, to me. I used to get that sometimes, with those cheap under $5 Nano Wifi N dongles, some of my routers, they would only hit 1Mbit/sec (if I was lucky), other routers, they would connect at 25-30Mbit/sec. It was really weird, and a bit hit-or-miss.

If your laptop has USB ports, buy a Wifi dongle (preferably with a DIFFERENT chipset than the in-built Wifi card), and see if that makes any difference.
