Lott's thurmond comments in 2002 about how things would be better the old way was not a blooper. It was truly reflective of how some in the south still feel.
They don't seem to be able to let it go. It's not getting much better either. It might be time for me to move on.Originally posted by: guyver01

Why?
Depends on your definition of harsh. The beginning of june to the end of august is usually brutally hot. On the other hand, winters are very mild having lived mostly in the north. My winter jacket here is a heavy flannel shirt. I've always wondered why northerners - ohio, michigan, wisconson, etc. - seem so industrious. My guess is that in the cold and generally miserable winter, there's nothing else to do but work.Originally posted by: Muse
Off the top of my head: Well, it's easier down there because the weather isn't as harsh. Plus it's hot a lot of the year and difficult to maintain a high level of physical activity. It would make you insular. It's easier to just drift into their regional stupor than grapple with the difficulty of dealing with and understanding the complexity and vastness of life elsewhere. And haven't you heard? "Truth is out of fashion."
