Why is the Registry loading a device that isn't installed on my computer?

A TV Tuner device driver keeps installing itslef when my PC boots and then shows up as an unknown device in my device manager... How can I fix this?

run hijackthis and post the list that it brings up.

get "autoruns" from sysinternals. You can select what to load at startup.

The TV Tuner device is something that used to be installed on my system but not anymore.

For these kind of tasks I rely on a nifty diagnostic utility made by HP which came with my printer's installation CD. It goes deep in installed devices history and provides the ability of easy removal of traces from old devices. You will not believe at the amount of clutter left behind by hardware modifications. I recommend it because it has helped me a great deal with my machine. It is a small program, no installation and registry burden. PM me if you want to give it a try.
