I have the Following system
MSI K8T
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
2 x 512 ddr400 corsair XMS black heatsink

I donwloaded cpu id and it reports the memory running at pc2700

anyone know why?

I have been told that the mem runs at 200 and when you double duty it, it becomes 400. I have been told this by support staff and had it varified but it seems like smoke to me...

That's what makes it "DDR" or Double Data Rate. It runs at 200MHz and sends double the data, thus making it 400 MHz. There is no "smoke" involved, unless you have done something wrong... 😉 In any event, that doesn't really address his problem, as his RAM is running at 333MHz, which would be 166MHz doubled to 333MHz.

Theres an option in bios to make the ram run at 133,166, or 200.
which translates to ddr speeds of 266,333, or 400.

It's in the bios, find it, and set it to 200(ddr 400), let me warn you though, a64 is very picky on ram, if your ram is flaky, then it will not be stable at ddr400 with default timings.

I have build an a64 system using the same mobo, and I run it at 333 for the stability even though my ram is ddr400(pc3200).
