Why is the NBA so boring nowadays?

Just wondering. Players just stand around waiting to get the ball. I am not saying college is better. College players that enter the NBA are the cream of the crop and often fail. So the NBA demands top talent. What does that talent do? Pull up for a jump shot:(

I want to some excitement! I want emotion!!

Blah. When the Sacramento Kings has Jason Williams, and the year they finally made it to the playoffs after a decade or so of not being able to enter, was the year basketball was last exciting to me. Oh well. Discuss

The only teams worth watching are the Mavs and Nets. That's cuz at least they move the ball around.

well, the lakers when shaq is healthy have an interesting inside out game.

truth is, there's no drama. it's not like the magic bird years. or the Jordan vs Everyone years or the bad boy years. why do you think Jordan came out of retirement this year, it had nothing to do w/ making washington better and EVERYTHING to do w/ marketing the NBA, unfortunately age catches up w/ everyone even Jordan.

how many of you honestly think that anyone besides Shaq and Kobe are gonna win the NBA championships this year. See no drama.

The Bulls were fun to watch when they had all their good players, Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and the rest of the gang. :p

Things got interesting last year in the playoffs with philly against the bucks and raptors, but the bucks and raps suck this year and AI is injured now. Playoffs is where exciting matchups become legend but the lakers roll over everyone and the east basically sucks. I love watching dallas tho.

Good 'Ol days ------------- They only loafed in Pre-Season
Pre-Modern days --------- They only loafed in first half-Season
Early-Modern days ------- They only loaf until semi's
Neo-Modern days --------- They still hustle at contract negotiation time

Dallas is a very fun team to watch. I love Dirk, Nash, Van exel, and that big Asian center guy. They are a very exciting team to watch. I would have to disagree that hte NBA is boring these days, i think it's gotten pretty interesting. The Lakers aren't rolling over everybody at the moment, but come playoff team Lakers will rock.

damn people just dont appreciate the pure form of a jumpshot anymore.
if you watch a basketball game just to see the fancy dunks and passes, then you dont really understand basketball

When portland is playing well, they are fun to watch. Bonzi Wells and Ruben Patterson have tons of energy.

Yes.

It's boring because every play is to the hoop and nobody has any outside talent.

What I can't stand about the NBA is their fans. I mean, watching a game on tv, all you see is a bunch of rich guys in suits sitting in their pricey court side seats talking on a cell phone while annoying music is pumped over the loudspeaker to give the game some sort of atmosphere. If I watch a college game, the band is playing, the student section is rocking, and it generally seems like a game. Most NBA games could be played in an empty arena with the loudspeaker blaring, and the experience would be nearly the same.

The college games this year were MUCH better than the pro games. If you wanted to see fast paced games up and down the court, you should have watched the Kansas, Oregon and UConn games. If you wanted to see powerful inside games with dunks and great passing, you should have watched Duke and Maryland. If you wanted to see great three point shooting, then you should have watched Indiana. If you wanted to see the all around games then you should have watched Pitt and Kent St. there are so many more that are worth mentioning.

NBA is boring because most of them don't even care until it's playoff time. College people care all year around. It makes the games that much more interesting.

Ditto. Games are so expensive nowadays that my wife and I stay home to watch or do something else completely, and we are sports nuts. The only people that can afford good seats at games are the people that don't even care about sports.

I feel the same way. I haven't been into basketball for many years though since i was in 5th or 6th grade. I can't believe Shaq has been i the league for 10 years, I still think of him as almost a rookie since I've been out of the loop for so long. :D

I'm really glad Jordan came back this year especially since I am around D.C. and am a Wiz fan...sucks that we'll probably never see him play again. Even though he wasn't the same as the old Jordan, it made wizards games exciting to watch just to see how Jordan would do.

On another note -- what's with little kids these days? They are the biggest front runners. I was watching the Wiz vs. Lakers game last night (in Washington) and every kid there was wearing a Lakers jersey. There was almost as many Laker fans at the game as Wiz fans!

Here in Sacramento at Arco Arena its the exact opposite. Die hard, noisy as hell and ultra supportive fans usually get the good seats. If you've seen any Sacramento Kings game, that's the reason why they're considered the best fans in any arena. Because the people sitting there are ACTUALLY FANS. Also makes the games entertaining to watch because no matter what, whether they're up 20, or down 20, or tied up, they'll support em no matter what. Gotta love atmospheres like that. The only other arenas i can think of that come close to bringing that excitement are the Rose Garden in Portland and maybe either Philly or Dallas.
