I finally got around to watching my BD copy of Layer Cake, having never seen it before. I figured that watching it would explain why the title originally had a couple numbers replacing letters similar to 1337-speak. It didn't.
It contextually explained what was meant by the title "Layer Cake," but the alternate spelling still doesn't make sense. Any attempts to search on Google only show the base explanation ("layers" of criminal classes in the underground drug trade).
It doesn't replace every letter that could be replaced, as 1337-speak would typically do... only ONE "A" and ONE " E," despite there being more than one of each. It makes it seem more like there is some significance to a single "4" & "3." Perhaps April 3rd was the theatrical release date? Even so, that doesn't explain why the first video release had that version of the title also.
Any insight?
