why is the microsoft windows activation phone number

I have been trying to call microsoft to get my copy of windows activated, since for some reason it wont connect to their stupid activation server even though i have a working internet connection on that computer. Ive been trying for the past THREE hours to get through to someone, but they are always busy! :|

I have just been trying to "toll free" number, should I try the non free number? Is that one not busy as much!?!??!

Maybe you have the wrong number.

It is always a computer that answers when I call. I love how it asks if your computer is denying the activation and then it tries to activate it over the phone by you reading it the number. If it is denied, then there is no use in the computer asking you the number.

I had to call 50+ times and I have never gotten a busy signal.

Same. Are you calling the wrong number? Do the toll-free one.

Edit: To add, I had to call Christmas day at 10:00pm and I got someone. So it's not a date/time thing... not sure why you get a busy signal.

They sense that you're calling and become magically busy. That said I've never had a problem with activation.

Never had a busy signal here either. Called atleast 5-6 times already for I actually got a bad serial number with a XP pro disk which forces me to call all the time when I redo my system.

I refuse to cave into the MS activation stupidity..... never had to call.

Never been busy for me...little or no wait times either...

I usually reinstall my OS about once a year on each of my 3 three PC's, so I have to call each time I do it...never had a problem yet...
