Why is the first AVP movie titled "Alien Vs. Predator" and the 2nd AVP movie titled "Aliens Vs. Predator?"

anyway, imdb says

first one "AVP: Alien vs. Predator"

second one "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem"


i think the titles are significantly different.

it's an "homage" to Scott's "Alien" and Cameron's followup "Aliens".

and that's about the only homage that it does.

I prefer Coconut Cream Pie or Banana Cream Pie, personally.
 
Because in the first one, all confrontations between the Aliens and the Predators were 1on1, best of 3 bouts. Hence the singular "Alien". In the second one, it's more like a cage match where you just throw them at each other... last one standing wins.

BTW... was Requiem really that bad? Even for just mindless entertainment? I love both franchises and I wanted to see this... especially since they didn't pussify it for a broad release...

It wasn't that bad. It was worse. My friends went drunk and still complained about how stupid it was.
