Why is the default avatar black?

seems like all the new members that haven't figured out how to change their avatars are using the "black-man" avatar. Was that always the default? if not, why is it the default now? Can't anandtech web designers create a "AT Default" avatar?
 
The avatars are in alphabetical order and that happens to be first. What they should do is have no avatar or the Anandtech Logo as the default.
 
It has been asked/suggested before that they change the default avatar for obvious reasons. No one has taken the initiative to correct it.

Why not make the default AV a can of worms? I guess this software lists the avatars alphabetically and no one can override that?

Because the users with the can of worms avatar will be offended.
And on and on and on.

If people are so weak kneed that they are offended by the default avatar, maybe they could add a new one, like this.
