ok, i had this same problem years back, but finally US mcD solved it around 1999. Now that I'm in tokyo, I'm having the same problem again...

A plain cheesburger. Thats right, meat, cheese, bread, nothing else. No shit ketchup/mustard, old lettuce, etc. Just processed dog meat and rat cheese only please :)

Every time I order they spend a minute or two taking off the pickles, mustard, etc. on the computer. They also look at me like "wtf...who would eat a burger without all the extra shit on it?"

for the record, it isnt a language problem. my japanese in the case is perfect...

anywho, does anyone else order their burgers plain

Why not just order a plain hamburger if your taking off the cheese as well?
But yeah I'll normal have a cheeseburger with nothing else on it but the cheese.

One time in the drive through a friend was ordering his burger. So I yelled out "no bread..." as he ordered. Got to the front and guess what, no bread. He was mad but the black woman inside whom we asked about the bread said "damm the new white boy gave this guy a burger with no bread." and started laughing. I laughed as well, but my friend was a little mad. :)

So yea you can get it your way, just have to go to Wendys.

if you want something that's not on the menu by default, then make it yourself. stop taking so much time ordering your own custom meals.

So what's the problem? You order a plain cheeseburger, they put in an order for a plain cheeseburger, you get a plain cheeseburger. At what point in the order of these events are you being disappointed?

You are the odd one because in Japan, you're really not supposed to complain about what you are served. It's also rude to ask what's not on the menu unless it's a higher end restaurant.

the problem is they have to spend extra time putting it into the computer, why isn't there a fucking button like in the US? The other problem is they look at me like they can't believe it. Why is it so hard to believe people dont like the other shit?

clearly stated...

no, it shouldn't. it takes more time. rather than saying "cheeseburger" to the order-taker, you say something along the lines of "cheeseburger with only cheese, no ketchup, pickles, onion, etc". then someone that's actually making the sandwiches has to read the order and custom make a sandwich, rather than rely on memory to know what's on the sandwich, and/or just serve up the next "regular cheeseburger".

ordering something non-standard is *never* faster, even if you are removing components.

In a strange and useless as usual?

Doesn't make sense.

Guess Google Translator doesn't know how to translate it to make sense in English.

i dont give a fuck. i'm white. i'm odd no matter what i do. people hand me forks spoons and start blabbering senseless english despite flawless (ok well maybe the accent needs work) japanese coming out of my mouth.

on top of that, we are talking mcD. its a fucking american company. I totally do not agree with this stance on japanese culture in any circumstance. i've had plenty of japanese friends request their meals be fixed due to store fuckup. This is in tokyo, chiba, and tochigi...maybe some of the more rural places are stricter to the old ways.

i have to agree with the OP. when i am grillin ga burger, my burger is pretty plain. itll be cheese, meat, breat, maybe an onion slice.

I hate going to a burger place and accidentally ordering all the extra stuff. For example a popular chain in southern california "fat burger" one of the great things about the place is that you can "add" all these toppings on your burger like say an egg or bacon.

That said, shouldn't the default burger have nothing on it. Fuddruckers does this right for the most part. But at fatburger, if you dont say anything you get relish on your burger. like hot dog relish. I'm not someone who say gets angry if I accidentally get relish, but it is disappointing . It is sort of like buying nachos at taco bell, where they force you to specially ask for no beans, but every once in awhile they forget.

Then again, i'm sure these companies know MOST people want all this stuff. I mean I bought an acura, and i didnt want a sunroof. but it costs them less to just build every single car with one, so i had to have one.

you missed my point. this is what i'm bitching about. they should make it standard like the US. push one button, there it is. It physically takes LESS time to make a plain cheeseburger than one with more crap on it. It simply doesn't take as much time.

This BS about memory burger making is fucking stupid. I've flipped burgers plenty of times, it isn't hard and takes about 1 extra second to remember not to load it up with other shit.

The only thing that's clear to me is that you're complaining about something stupid. Cheeseburgers have a default configuration. If you don't want that default configuration, then you have to wait a "minute or two" (really 10-15 seconds) for them to punch it in the computer so the people making your food in the back know to leave it off.

I'm guessing if in a different world, you liked extra pickles, you'd come on here and bitch about how it takes a minute or two for them to put it in the computer. Or if all cheeseburgers came plain, then you still wouldn't be happy, because you had to keep waiting for the clerk to put in that these people wanted ketchup, mustard, and pickles on their cheeseburgers.
