Why is the computer game Daikatana so bad?

Why do people think this game is really bad?

Honestly I'm just curious and I have never played the game in my life.

It's bad because John Romero spent way too much time playing with his girlfriends fake boobs than creating the game.

It was the best game if you base a quality gaming experience on the number of shades of green you can have on your screen at one time.

When you can buy a game about a month after release for $4.99 it has to be bad.

There was a helluva lot of hype for this game, and the fact that it was bad AND overly hyped, made it that much worse.

Exactly. If it were some no-named guy that put it out, it wouldn't have been as big of a deal. But because it was Romero and he was coming off of all his success with Quake and the fact that it was delayed for over a year and a half, it is basically now the punchline to a joke.

Well, it's not AWFUL. It's just really bad considering the amount of time, money and hype surrounding the game. I didn't play it all the way through, but the highlights:

- Frogs and other tiny-ass insects you're forced to kill; a difficult task at best.
- Your "sidekicks", Superfly Johnson and Mikiko, are better at getting in the line of fire and clipping themselves into walls than they are at helping you.
- Superfly Johnson? WTF kind of name is that?
- Ugly, ugly game. Carmack loves browns, Romero loves greens.

It got delayed. It was supposed to come out in 1998 or something. But it didn't. The entire design team quit at one point, so it got delayed pretty bad. In 1999, the marketing team made an ad which said "John Romero is about to make you his b!tch" and that pissed off a lot of the fans.

It came out in 2001...and noone cared.
