Why is summer a more popular time to get married than the winter?

I'm fat. Fat people sweat -- especially if we have to dress up. Getting a lot of dressed up people into a church (or something) in the summer is a recipe for sweating. Wouldn't winter be a better time to get married? It's cooler so we won't sweat as much.

I have a cousin that is getting married on top of a mountain in Huntsville, AL next week. Should be pretty hot. I'm not going to be able to make it though because we just had a baby and my wife still has to recover from the c-section. My other cousin in Huntsville was married two winters ago in Huntsville. Pretty chilly but it was inside. I'm not sure I'd take one over the other though.

August isn't the best time for an outdoor wedding but I would have gone regardless if we had been able. It is family.

Ever hear the term "nipping out"? Yeah, not a good look for the bride-to-be.

Seriously, you have Thanksgiving and Christmas in the winter. Vacation times are being used up, money is being spent on presents, it makes it hard for the guests.

Or a blizzard, or an ice storm. Even if it doesn't hit the area where the wedding is happening, it may prevent important family members from getting there. Or prevent you from keeping your honeymoon plans.

Plus you have a lot more religious holidays between Christmas and Easter, so it's harder to get the church and the preacher (or whatever you wanna call him) coordinated.

Also flowers are priced higher when they are out of season.
