Why is stop sign etiquette so hard for some people to understand?

No Lifer
I just don't get it.

If you get to a stop sign and there's no one else there, you can go.

If you get there and stop and someone shows up a second or two later, you can STILL go.

If you get there after someone else has already stopped, then you wait.

It's not rocket science.

Oy vey.

if 4 cars all arrive at the 4 way stop at the same time, who goes first?

lol, actually, the postal worker in their truck thingy has the right of way at all times, to include all emergency vehicles with their lights on.

According to my stop class, the correct thing to do is pause to see if someone will go. You don't want to both go. But if no one goes, then blare your horn and start driving. The horn will startle the other drivers into keeping their breaks on, they look around to see who did it, and by then you are halfway through the intersection.

That concept blows the minds of too many people.

*sigh*

Thats why you look at the other people, if they have this dumb-founded look on their face, just go. Otherwise you will be there for 2 minutes playing the waving game. As soon as they wave they will start to go, so you stop, and they re-wave you. Then go again. Idiots.

Either the person going straight, or the person making the right turn if they're both turning.

Yeah.... I go out of "order" all the time if I'm turning right and it doesn't look like I'll be in anyone else's way.

if you're not in anyone's way then there is no right-of-way issue, and there is no order.
