According to here it is.

But within it it states:

It subsequently became one of the world's most prosperous countries, with strong international trading links (its port is one of the world's busiest) and with per capita GDP above that of the leading nations of Western Europe.

Its life expectancy is even longer than that of the US's I believe. Gah?

Maybe it has something to do with the percentage of population living in poverty vs. not.

Shrug.

"third world" is a geopolitical term that originated in the 50s to separate the two superpowers (us and western europe=first world, ussr and eastern europe=second world) from the rest (third world).

hence singapore is 'third world' only by classification and not in fact.
or you could just read the link on the preceding page and figure that out on your own

Because they routinely eat dogs killed by beating them over and over with baseball bats, because the adrenaline makes the meat taste better in their opinions.

. I find it hard to believe since Singapore has a tightly controlled society and has a limit to one pet per household. Cruelty to domesticated animals is a major crime there.

I think you are confusing Singapore with Korea. They think the meat tastes better and that it makes a man more 'virile.' The Koreans are big on virility

countries of the third world, developing countries, poorest countries

I think Singapore shouldn't be in that list. If I remember correctly, Singapore was considered a developed country years ago.
