Why is Quake 3 not running stable?

While playing Quake 3, it runs slow sometimes, and froze up a couple of times, any ideas?

Do you have Anti-virus programmes running in the background or perhaps even Task Scheduler? What Drivers r u using, have you tried any other Detonator Drivers that r available. Are u running the latest VIA 4 in 1's. 4.32's are stable.

I don't have any anti virus programs running, or task mon, I have the latest 4 in 1 drivers, and I'm using the latest hercules drivers, should I use the nvidia drivers instead?

U could give them a try. 12.60 are the latest Detonators. U can get them for Win9x or Win2K here.
