Why is Portal 2 $45??!!

Because suckers will pay it. This is one of those time people should speak with their wallets, but they won't. There's a lot of die hard Portal fans out there.

Its being released on PS3 for 60 bucks. And that will be the last time we see a portal game for windows.

Maybe it will be more of a game than Portal was, since it has more components (e.g. MP) and presumably a longer story.
Or they just want more money.

If it has a full length story (which I guess is only 10-15 hours by today's standards), it should be worth the price tag. The original Portal was quite short, so if this is at least 3x the length (without throwing in BS fillers), I'll be willing to pay the price.

Portal was a great game. As long as they've innovated with this one (more than just switching up the puzzles and throwing in a couple of new obstacle types), it should be loads of fun.

Yeah I think I got mine with the Orange Box as well. IMO the original was worth at most $20. This better be a lot better if it costs $45+. I'll buy it when it comes down in price though.

One of the best things about the original was it's perfect length. It didn't overstay it's welcome.

I think it will get shit if they try and drag it out for 10 - 15 hrs.

Unless it goes all Half-Life in the middle with guns and shit.

If you paid attention you will see the purpose of this thread is to discuss WHY the freakin game is 45 dollars.

If you wanna pay 45 bucks for a 3 hour game maybe you should be in the console forum.

I am officially starting the rumor that it's going to be $45 because it's coming packaged with EP3 😉 quick..spread the word.

Ok mr psycho.

My point was that it's not going to be worth $45 if they've just made it 3 times the length.

I got Portal with a cheap Orange Box, so I can't complain, but after the all the hype, I was shocked at how short it was.

When it ended, I thought I was just completing the intro section and about to start the "meat" of the game. Bit of a disappointment. Otherwise, enjoyed the gameplay.

I can't believe Portal 2 would be as short as that, especially for that price. I usually hold out along time for bargains anyway, so I'd probably pick it up on sale for $15-$20 (if it's a decent length).

Yep, if I can get some solid gaming hours in with my brother or some friends, that is what is going to count for this one.

um, ever since Portal 2 has been announced its been blatantly obvious that it's going to be a full on game, not some mini-game that was the original Portal. Hell they just threw Portal 1 in the orange box for fun, it wasn't designed to be much more than some cool extra and it grew immensely in popularity. So much so they decided to create a story and full experience. Hench why it's been in development for awhile.

The PS3 version costs 60 because you get a PC version 'free' with it. Sounds more than fair to me.

cmon its valve
they are clutch.
and yeah itll prolly be 70% off or something by eoy.
if not, itll be worth what they charge whenever u buy it imo
