Random question I've always wondered about... PittsburgH ends in an H, yet every other town that ends in burg, just ends there. Is there a real reason for this? anyone know?

I heard a bunch of years ago, it was changed. The h was added. The reasoning was it was during WW 1 and the the H made it look less German.

I remember being taught in school that all of the OTHER cities changed their name to sound less German, but Pittsburgh didn't.

And no, Pittsburgh is not different from the rest of PA. "Pittsburghese" can be found from Erie to Altoona to the WVA panhandle and Ohio. It's yinz Philadelphia people who are different.

Looks like pop winz, and you looze! (well, i guess PA is leaning more towards soda, but as mentioned above, the eastern half of the state is mildly retarded.)

interesting.

and yes, there is major pittsburghese talk here in altoona...and we're directly in the middle of the state. it isn't just limited to the city. :)
