why is piss sometimes yellow and sometimes colorless?

It depends on how hydrated you are and how much excess salts/minerals/vitamins you have in your body.
 
I don't think it has anything to do with the amount of water in your body.
It has to do with what is being flushed from your system in your urine.

Why do you people pull this crap outta your ass?

what you drink has an effect. drink lots of soda rather than water, your piss stays yellow.

More water in your body means you've got more water to dilute the stuff being flushed from your system. So the more water you have the clearer your urine will be.
