While both may be true; what the Jews did to the land afterwards that was either not inhabited by the Arabs or obtained by the Arabs was to improve it beyond what existed when the Arabs had the land. they knew that the land had to be made more productive in order to allow new people to live and thrive

Outsiders (Arab and Westerners) meddling in the area ruined the common existence between the Jews that had immigrated and the local population.

After that, there is finger pointing and also justified on both sides.

In the end,the Arabs tried to get everything and have ended up losing much of what they had.

Where are the documents showing % of land fertile back in the 20-40s when the Arabs still controlled the land.

No one denies that there were springs. The issue becomes land that was not being cultivated by the Arabs and/or sold to the Jews by Arabs.

Remember that Israel did not start to settle the West Bank area when the Arabs/Jordan controlled the land until after the '67 war.
