Why is OpenDNS so fast and why doesn't everyone use it?

I changed dns in Godaddy and it only took a couple minutes to show up in openDNS and direct me to the right host.

Why do we still need the whole wait 72 hours thing?

I've had serious issues with OpenDNS consistency, so I stopped using them. Most of the time, openDNS works fine, but every once in a while it just chokes, in a bad way.

ditto. it just doesnt find some sites or subdomain of sites that other dns servers have no problem with.

I tried using it for a resolution server at work. Sometimes it just slows to a crawl. Don't get me wrong though, usually that's still better than your default DNS server the ISP gives you.

The other problem I had with using ODNS at work was their search page in case a site wasn't found or something. People would put in help desk tickets because they thought their computer had been hijacked with spyware or something.

I just use some root servers now. I think 4.4.4.2 and 4.4.4.1.
