Why is network so slow on only one computer?

I have 3 computers in a home LAN. I can access everything from each computer with no real problems. However, the main computer which is the ICS connection to the net, takes 30-40 seconds to open 'windows network' and then 30-40 sec to open MSHOME then 30-40 seconds to open a given computer. I don't have this problem on any of the other computers.

Any ideas?

All 3 have 10/100 NICs (all running at 100) and are connected via a 4 port hub. The main computer is actually the fastest - 2.25G. The other two are 1.8 and 1.1G. There isn't much of anything going on on the network most of the time. The main computer and one of the others are running XP the other is 2000. The main computer is also running a second 10/100 NIC to a cable modem.

also unbind wins and netbios over IP on the internet NIC.

It sounds like your computer is looking for a browse list on the internet, timing out and then trying the other (correct) nic.

1) What should MSS be? The only thing I can find about it is this: "Maximum Segment Size. Tells how much data can be put into a packet. Should usually be 40 less than the MTU. In the case of the MTU being 576, MSS should be 536." I'm running XP.

2) Netbios isn't being used at all, I don't think. How do I know if WINS is bound?
