Yup, I know why it shows the slower speed. Its AMDs version of speedstep. I've spent hours researching it and how to turn this idiotic "feature" off, but nothing that I try helps. I fixed this problem once, and it just came back again. First, I tried just changing the power options to "always on" that did nothing, still showing 600 and some mhz instead of the full 2.2ghz, I tried switchstep xp I believe it was called, eventhough that seems to be for laptops. That did nothing, Cool N quiet is turned off in the bios. I'm so frustrated right now since this is the second time I have to fix this on this machine. The system runs fine, except when the Sims are run, they run extremely fast, unplayable fast. The first I came across this I learned it was because the game reads the CPU speed when it first loads or something. How can I get my processor the full 2.2ghz?

Try RMclock. It should be able to lock it at the highest speed. You can make several profiles that can be changed with a right click to the taskbar icon (i.e. before sims, enable "maximum performance").

I agree with Error8, it sounds like a MB issue. See if there are any newer BIOS revisions available and update it. (although turning off Cool n'qQiet should have done the trick, maybe that function doesn't work properly on your MB; but updating the BIOS may fix that as well)
